Sonos is gearing up to unveil its inaugural wireless headphones in June, anticipated to be priced at $449. The headphones will integrate with Sonos' existing speaker and home theater systems. CEO Patrick Spence is optimistic about this venture, foreseeing it as the commencement of a lucrative hardware phase. Despite facing delays, Sonos is confident in the product, aiming to produce 650,000 to 1 million units in the next year. The headphones will offer enhanced audio quality via Wi-Fi streaming, compatible with Sonos soundbars and TVs. Additionally, Sonos is venturing into the party speaker market, challenging competitors like JBL and Sony with its upcoming Move 2. The company already eyes a second-gen headphone model and potential wireless earbuds to diversify its offerings. Launch initially planned for May, the headphones' release in early June will unveil Sonos' strategy for differentiation in the headphone market.
