Brompton Design District prepares to open its doors for the London Design Festival 2024 in 9 days time. This year’s theme, The Practice of Learning, curated by Jane Withers Studio, promises an exploration of knowledge, experimentation, and collaboration. Running from 14th to 22nd September, the event will showcase a blend of exhibitions, workshops, talks, and new product launches, making it a must-visit for design enthusiasts.
At We Are Marble, we're thrilled to be at the heart of the event management, coordination, and organisation of this historic district, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors and participants alike.
Designers to Watch: A Blend of Emerging Talent and Established Names
Brompton Design District 2024 brings together an exciting lineup of both emerging and internationally renowned designers. Among the participants are Marco Campardo, Guan Lee, Attua Aparicio, Sarah Van Gameren, Andu Masebo, Michael Anastassiades, and Patricia Urquiola, alongside collectives such as POoR Collective and Studio AMOS. The programme highlights both the power of collaboration and individual creativity, creating an environment where designers and visitors alike can learn from one another.
The district will also feature the RCA Class of 2024 Design Products Graduates, showcasing the next generation of designers as they push the boundaries of creativity and innovation.
A Curated Exploration of Learning in Design
The Practice of Learning theme is at the core of this year’s Brompton Design District, with exhibitions focusing on the design process itself—how we learn, experiment, and grow through the act of creation. Jane Withers Studio has curated a series of temporary exhibitions that invite visitors to engage with designers and their work in new, interactive ways.
Some highlights include:
Reading Design at Grymsdyke Farm led by Sarah Van Gameren, a project exploring materials and processes with contributions from designer-educators such as Attua Aparicio, Marco Campardo, and Guan Lee.
Making Room – A Workshop Space by Andu Masebo and Mikey Krzyzanowski, where workshops, talks, and collaborative events will unfold, showcasing the evolving nature of learning through shared experiences.
Engrained - Material Intelligence by Sarah Myerscough Gallery, presenting contemporary design works from Nic Webb, Studio AMOS, and Gareth Neal, which explore the creative possibilities of wood.
Celebrating Iconic Design Brands and New Launches
In addition to the curated exhibitions, the district’s iconic design showrooms will launch new collections and host a variety of events. Highlights include:
Cassina celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Charlotte Perriand Collection with an exclusive installation, including the Chaise Longue Indochine, a piece originally crafted in 1943 and now reinterpreted for modern audiences.
Molteni&C commemorating their 90th anniversary with an immersive installation in their Brompton Road flagship store and a talk with designer Michael Anastassiades.
Occhio debuting its first chandelier, Lunanova, redefining the concept of what a chandelier can be through dramatic and innovative lighting design.
Additional highlights include launches from Liaigre, Giorgetti, Dolce & Gabbana Casa, and Henge, which will open its doors in the district for the first time.
